You have questions. We can answer them.

What is a Colour index?

The Colour index is a reference book for pigments and colouring materials. It is arranged according to the chemical composition and contains the generic name as well as the "Colour index NUMBER" (C.I. No.). Pigments of same chemical nature can show differences in the colour and in the application technology characteristics. Hence particle size, crystal structure, surface properties, purity and other factors play thereby a role.

What is a surface colour?

One calls colours of articles - for example coloured plastics – surface colours. The colour is noticed by the human eye only if light is reflected from subjects and the uvulas and rods of the retina are stimulated.

Why is the dosage depending on the colour?

Depending upon colour type and colour strength a masterbatch contains more or less organic and inorganic pigments. In order to attain with each application an even and good colouring, the dosage is adapted accordingly. The dosing accuracy, the condition of the processing machines as well as specific application play an important role for the colour matching.
